Hebrews 9:11-15 – The blood of the Lamb of God!

Hebrews 9:11-15 – The blood of the Lamb of God! By Pastor Lee Hemen October 7, 2012 AM When I was younger, we had a clubhouse we had built in a huge fir tree and then we decided to build another by digging one just down from the tree in the hillside by the railroad tracks. In order to get into the clubhouse you had to know how to enter. We had a set of passwords and booby traps to entrap the unsuspecting who dared enter without knowing the secrets of our clubhouse. Of course looking back on those security measures we had, they seem pretty juvenile now. You know what, there are religions in our world today that have the same kind of secret handshakes and code words that you have to understand and do in order to get into the “secret” inner arena of their spiritual philosophies. It is a matter of genuflections or erasing one’s engrams. The Old Testament ritual had become, well, so much ritual because of Jesus Christ! But how does one show this to people who had for their enti...

Hebrews 5:1-10 – Jesus our Melchizedek!

Hebrews 5:1-10 – Jesus our Melchizedek! By Pastor Lee Hemen August 12, 2012 AM There is a horrendous misunderstanding which borders on heresy in Christianity today. It is self-centeredness where worship is wrapped around the individual, commitment is based on our contentment, and our Savior and Lord is reduced to effeminate individual. Much of the church today fails to teach or comprehend just who Jesus is and what he has done for sinful man. Instead, we try to make the gospel relevant to the day and thereby Jesus into a means of living life for the moment. Ungodly sin is excused and Jesus made into our immoral image. Nothing could be further from the truth. The author of Hebrews set forth two key truths: 1) the exalted position of Jesus who is uniquely God’s King-Son and 2) the salvation-inheritance of those who trust him by faith. Included in these themes are solemn warnings not to neglect the inheritance that Jesus’ relationship makes possible. The Son’s kingship h...

How to Be Bold In Witnessing! -- 2 Timothy 1:4-18

How to Be Bold In Witnessing! -- 2 Timothy 1:4-18 July 27, 2008 AM By Pastor Lee Hemen In our day and age there are those who think that Christianity needs to not only change the way it conveys its message but that it should change its message as well. Both are heresy and unbiblical. They have become ashamed of the gospel message. What needs to occur in a society that has become aggressive toward the gospel is for the church and its members to be bold in their witnessing. There is a false doctrine that runs rampant in today’s evangelical churches, namely, that we should lure unsuspecting people into Christian worship in order for them to experience Jesus. However, this is not what Jesus taught nor what the early church was encouraged to do. Christians are to be bold in their witnessing. Paul wrote his second Letter to Timothy as his personal situation worsened. He had apparently already attended a preliminary hearing (2 Tim. 4:16-18) and some had deserted him (1:15), and others had gon...
